Exploring Similar Triangles - Similar Triangles Rap
In this activity, students will watch the Similar Triangles Rap and fill out the similar triangles worksheet as they watch the video. This worksheet requires students to pay attention during the video clip and extract any meaningful information they find from the video dealing with triangles and similarity (i.e., properties of similar triangles, properties of triangles in general, etc.). The students will write down all mathematical terms they hear in the video and then will circle the ones they find relevant to their work with similar triangles. Next to the words they circled, students will then write out how the words relate to their work with similar triangles. After this, students will get into groups of 3-4 and make a quick rap or song of their own, using the terms associated with similar triangles.
I chose this activity because it is a great visual and auditory source of information that is entertaining yet informational. Students will watch this activity and pick up on a lot of essential elements of similar triangles that are important to their understanding. This activity is a great alternative to the typical lecture because it is entertaining but still educational.

Learning Target:
- I can figure out the important words associated with similar triangles and their properties
- I can tell how important words relate to our work with similar triangles
- I can come up with a song or rap that describes similar triangles and their properties
