Dear Reader,
The purpose of this Multigenre Project is to help students in High School Geometry classes explore some of the many properties and applications of similar triangles through a variety of unique and engaging activities. These activities, which can be found under the Multigenre Project tab at the top of this page, will help students work their way to becoming experts in this particular subject.
As some students may have already discovered from previous coursework in mathematics, triangles are an important part of not only mathematics but also the real world. There are countless real-life applications involving the similarity of different types of triangles (i.e., right triangles, scaline triangles, isosceles triangles, and equilateral triangles). Throughout this project, students will explore all of these connections and applications in the hope that they will be useful in each student's life in the future.
This Project will focus on three main Common Core State Standards: HSG-SRT.A.2 and HSG-SRT.B.5. These standards include students understanding the properties of similar triangles; students using properties of similar and congruent triangles to solve problems and prove relationships in geometric figures; and students using trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in real-life application problems.
The specific learning goals for this project are:

The specific learning goals for this project are:
- I can understand the relationships in similar and congruent triangles.
- I can apply the relationships of similar and congruent triangles to solve problems involving these types of triangles.
- I can use properties of similar and congruent triangles to prove relationships in geometry involving triangles.
- I can use trigonometry and the Pythagorean Theorem to help me solve real-life application problems involving right triangles.
